Ashanti Shequoiya Doug, better known for her stage name Ashanti was born on the 13th of October 1981 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is an American songwriter, singer and actress. Ashanti was discovered while an 18-year-old and was signing with Murder Inc. Records in 2002. In the same year, she was featured in the Fat Joe's What's Luv? She also appeared in Fat Joe's track What's the Luv? Through Foolish and What's Luv being at number one and her first number one hit, she was the only woman with two songs included in the Billboard Hot 100 chart top Ten of the United States. Tina Douglas' mother was teacher of dance, and Ken-Kaide Douglas who was the father of Ashanti Douglas is also a singer. Kenashia Shia is her older sibling. Douglas was named after her father, who was a member of the Ashanti Empire in Ghana in which women ruled and influence and Douglas was hoping for Ashanti to be a model for the Ashanti Empire. James was her grandfather. He served as an activist for civil rights with Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s. Ashanti's mom discovered Ashanti's talent when she heard her sing Mary J. Blige Reminisce. Ashanti played a role as a young as an extra in Spike's Malcolm X at the age of 22 in 1992 and Ted Demme's Who's the Man? The singer also made a few guest appearances in music videos such as K.R.S.-Act One's MC's don't know and the 8-Off's Ghetto Girl. After being approached by record labels including Bad Boy and Jive, Ashanti struggled to become a successful singer. But she did perform throughout New York and began hanging in Murder Inc. Murder Inc. recording studio in the hope of getting a significant break. Ashanti was originally featured on the track of Big Pun's We Roll as a backing vocalist. Also, she was on Fat Joe's"What's Luv?" as well as Ja Rule's Always On Time. The song sample she uses in her debut single Foolish comes from DeBarge's Stay with Me the track from 1983. Ashanti dropped her self-titled debut album in 2002. It was released through Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. label. The Declaration fourth studio album, was released on June 3 2008. On the 16th of October Hey Baby (After the Club) was made available to radio stations as well as digital channels. The singer played Latasha on Army Wives and starred in the movie Christmas in the City. Aitch is a British musician, sampled her track Rock wit U for Baby in 2022, on the 10th of March.
